Focus Remote — Privacy Policy
Summary
What stays on your device
- Paired TV info — name, IP address, port, protocol, and pairing tokens / client keys. Stored locally in Android's
EncryptedSharedPreferencesand DataStore. - Settings — haptics, keep-awake, vibration, language. Stored locally only.
- Diagnostic logs — written to the app's private cache only when you tap Export diagnostic log in Settings. The log contains device model, Android OS version, and recent app activity. You decide where (if anywhere) to share it.
What we don't do
- We do not collect, transmit, or sell any personal information.
- We do not use analytics SDKs, crash reporters, or advertising networks.
- We do not contact any server operated by us. The app talks only to TVs on your local network.
Permissions used
- Internet / Wi-Fi state / Multicast — required to discover TVs via mDNS and SSDP and to send remote-control commands on your Wi-Fi network.
- Vibrate — optional haptic feedback when you press a remote key.
- Wake lock — keeps the remote screen responsive while you're using it.
TV-side data
During pairing, your TV stores Focus Remote as an authorized remote-control client. That entry lives on the TV, not in this app. To revoke that authorization, use your TV's own settings menu — the steps differ by brand:
- Android TV / Google TV — Settings → Remotes & Accessories
- LG webOS — Settings → General → Mobile TV On / Connected Devices
- Samsung Tizen — Settings → General → External Device Manager → Device Connection Manager
- Roku — no pairing token to revoke; access is controlled by the TV's network reachability
Children's privacy
The app does not collect data from anyone, including children under 13.
